PennDOT To Be Darned To Heck
The state is set to begin hearings tomorrow on the snafu that led to hundreds of motorists being stranded for hours and hours on Interstate 78 in Pennsylvania. The state is ready to say “whoops!” and move on, but they’ve also set up an email address (stormresponse AT pasen DOT gov) for people to complain. John Baer notes in his column today that the complaints are already rolling in, including this one from a couple in their seventies:
A special place in purgatory? (Perhaps it’s the spirit of Ash Wednesday.) You know, I like this new kinder, gentler brand of complaining. Nobody’s going to hell; they’re just going to purgatory for a while. So, you know, even though this married couple was stranded for six hours in a snow bank, they still believe PennDOT officials can achieve salvation. That’s nice. Who put a beauracrat in charge of District 5 ? Who put an acting manager in the position of directing a snow and ice operation ? Guess what ? the same thing is about to happen in the Philadelphia region. We need men like N.M. to keep our highways open. Experience before politics. If Ed Rendell allows another puppet head of a region like A.B. in 5-0, he then deserves to be recalled. Where was the Deputy Sec of Admin.(hires and fires) during this fiasco? I’ll tell you, in FLORIDA, basking in the sun with her friend. Wake up Governor, you have a thorn in your side, and until you remove it, the next four years could get worse. Casino’s are imminent, and you better have someone in charge that knows what he/she are doing. Someone with a personality that goes with ability, and someone who all elected officials are compatible. I will not rest, and until the next disaster, I will be watching.
