Reason #54 To Love Philadelphia: Freddie Mitchell
Yes, Freddie Mitchell hasn’t lived in Philadelphia for a while now. (He’s been out of football since the Eagles’ 2004 Super Bowl season.) But Philadelphia made Freddie Mitchell. And all his antics since — not joining the Philadelphia Soul, being a substitute teacher, etc. — are in part because he made his mark first in Philadelphia. And what is he up to now? Why, he might go play in the Canadian Football League! (And he might play with Mike McMahon, who was on the Eagles in the awful 2005 season.) This, truly, is a fitting end to Freddie’s football career. Well, okay, when he gets cut from the CFL, that will be a fitting end to his football career. FredEx to play in CFL? [Daily News] |

Personally, I’m waiting for him to be cut from the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Pioneers in Arena Football 2, but I’m a dick like that.
Toronto is desperate for any NFL players as most of the people in that city need “big NFL names”, rather than just plain darn good football players to win a championship, to support their teams. But with Toronto hosting the Grey Cup this year, Canada’s national football championship, with the team they have with grandpa Allen at 44 at qb, they don’t have a chance in hell of going to the game. Even us rebuilding TiCats will massacre the Argos this year.
FREDEX was the best player to have been cut by the Eagles since Randall Cunningham. I hope he gets that job in Canada. And McMahon too, it wasn’t his fault the Eagles were 6-10 in 2005. It was because more than half of the starting lineup was on injured reserve. McMahon and Mitchell on the same team. It would be better than Montana and Rice.
