Early Endorsement: Fattah For Mayor (And John Street For Congress)

On Saturday, Chaka Fattah officially announced he is a candidate for mayor, telling people what they already know. (Hey! It’s kinda like this blog!)

Philadelphia Will Do would like to take this time to say that the other candidates are crap, and that Chaka Fattah should no doubt win the mayoral election come next November. This has nothing to do with the quality of the candidates, though. It really doesn’t even have anything to do with the quality of Chaka Fattah as a politician or a man. And this early endorsement doesn’t mean I’ll be nicer to Fattah or meaner to the other candidates.

It’s all about John Street.

If Fattah were to win the mayoral election, suddenly his seat in the U.S. House is vacant. Who would probably step in to fill the vacancy? That’s right: Our beloved mayor. Could you imagine John Street in Congress? Free wireless in the Capitol, bugs everywhere, possibly falling down the steps somewhere.

But, really, have you ever watched a session of the House? Those guys would give John Street a good run for most bumbling person on the planet. It’d be awesome (and be quality blog material). Fattah for Mayor. Congress will never be the same.

Why did Fattah run for his seat again when he and everyone else knew he was going for mayor as well?
