Float Like A Helicopter, Whine Like A Penn KidLast night, NBC 10’s Cherie Bank did a piece on helicopter parents, i.e. parents that hover above their children to prevent them from making a mistake, make their decisions for them, etc. It also featured a little segment on Marcie Rogo, Theta girl with a helicopter parent who controls all of her finances. (This video segment includes Stephen Merritt, though I don’t think it’s the same one.) Aw, come on. If you’re a Penn student and your parents control your finances, your boyfriend has to buy your coke for you. Big deal. Can’t find it on the NBC 10 website, so the full “helicopter parents” report is after the jump.
Now all we need to do is find out what Stephen Morse feels about this subject. Also, I included an extra clip at the end of this piece to show you what hard hitting news is really about. |

Fascinating. Maybe her parents are waiting for her to show some maturity by - oh, I don’t know - GETTING A PART-TIME JOB???
well, mommy let marcie buy those supremely ‘tarded glasses so obviously the leash isn’t tight enough…
Wow, you mean that kids from Penn and Nova may not be self sufficient?
As a member of the United States Coast Guard, I want it clearly stated for the record that we do not allow helicopter parents to use our helicopters, as this outrageous video insinuates.
Thank you,
