A loyal reader and Eagles fan (natch) writes in with the following anecdote from last night’s Eagles game:
I was at last night’s game (my uncle’s got season tix and he gave me this game as a graduation present). Anyway, we happened to be in the row with the LINCOLN FINANCIAL FAN OF THE GAME, which, as you know, gets selected at random somehow and receives a prize. Everyone in the row (Section 102 on the 40 yard line, row 17) got little Eagles fan of the game hand towels to wave around and wipe our sweaty brows with. This was midway through the fourth quarter, if memory serves.

I don’t know what happened after that, but a couple minutes later we heard a commotion and saw Eagles security in our section. Turns out they were slapping the cuffs on a guy and taking him out… hey… THEY’RE EJECTING THE FAN OF THE GAME! Yeah, there he goes — a metaphor for Philly sports if there ever was one. A hero one minute, and getting the boot the next. Unbelievable? Maybe. Hilarious? Absolutely.
Maybe some of your readers might’ve seen the incident and can shed light on what this dope did to get himself tossed, because that’s the part I didn’t see. Fan of the game getting ejected 20 minutes after being crowned — only in Philadelphia.
Amazing. The Fan of the Game… was apparently ejected.

I can confirm this story as I sit in section 101, row 17 and saw the “Fan of the Game” get cuffed and taken out by security. He was running up and down the aisle between sections 101 & 102 trying to get the crowd riled up, meanwhile the game was already out-of-reach for the Pack. My Dad’s friend actually got into a shouting match with the guy, asking “Where you been, it’s the 4th quarter?” So anyway, as this idiot was running up-and-down the aisle he decided to start pounding on some old guy’s back as he tried to walk down the ailse to his seat. I think he (the FOTG) thought he was being funny but the old dude was clearly not amused. It was pretty entertaining though, especially when they had trouble cuffing the guy.
Eagle Fans ALL SUCK, they are such animals. They can’t even act like human beings. they are such a disgrace to the NFL.
I hate philly and their fans…YOU SUCK.

Now, here’s a little story about a wicked smart Giants fan. Just after the eagles loss to the giants he told me this joke…

Maybe he didn’t watch the game, but I don’t think he realized that the giants only played 1 quarter and a brief OT. I quickly reminded him how dumb his joke was. What a dope.

This is hillarious! I live in VB (from Philly) with my wife (the biggest Birds fan EVER) and two kids. The only reason I am reading this is because a friend emailed me the article and urged me to show the wife.
A quick note…FOOTBALL BORED ME UNTIL I SAT IN THE 700 SECTION (ground zero, as it were) of the Ol’ VET. I can never watch football on TV, and I never talk about football with my buds.
However, if I am ever offered tickets or happen to be in town for a game and can get tickets…I AM THERE.
You want passion, you want nuts, you want a game in the stands as well as on the field…Philly is the place.
Philly is a blue-collar town, and for has hard as everyone works…they party just as hard.
We love the birds when they win, boo them when they make a dumb-play…but you will never…EVER…EVER…EVER see someone sitting in the stands who is not full of either happiness or disgust.
…and you will never be sitting behind some arrogant turtle-neck sipping wine and asking his wife to pass the Ahi and Roe.
Rock on Philly fans…you guys and ladies keep me from being BORED watching two teams try to carry a ball past a white chalk line!

Eagle fans make going to a football game a joke. They think they are funny but all they do is cause chaos. If they win they chant their stupid little song and if they lose they look for the nearest man woman or child with the other teams jersey to pour beer on, but only if they are smaller then they are. You are serious???? You really think Irving has a bunch of pricks??? Have you seen the Linc???? They booed Santa (who was NOT drunk btw, check your facts philly), threw snowballs and batteries at coaches, cheered when Irvin (who was a bad person, but still human) got injured seriously, cheered louder when Deion went down on a knee to pray for him, and cheered even louder when Irvin was hauled off on a stretcher. I know not all philly fans are this bad, but its one thing to be excited for your team, its another to assault dallas, ’skins, and giants fans and beat the crap out of them for visiting your stadium.

The sad and funny thing is this: Giants fans, Cowboys fans, Reskins fans and even Falcons fans cant say they love their teams or live and die with as much emotion as we do. I live in central NY, a hotbed of Giant, Jet and Bills fan abound, my best friend is a Falcons fan for christs sakes. We get together every Sunday to watch the games at a local sports bar. Thegroup we sit with includes us 2 a couple of Jets fans, Rams, packers and Jags, and one degenerate gambler. I am the loudest regardless of what the Birds are doing, I have the fight song on cd and bring a boom box with me to play it when the birds score and again when they win. Beleive me I get called obnoxious and everything else, but if the Birds are flying high, thats all that matters.
To all of you, the 90’s are over (it’s back to the 80’s). The Bears will take care of the NFC from now on.

If you want to talk about team spirit, then ALL of you are missing the boat. Hands down, the team that inspires the most followership out of its fans is the A-Team. Why? Loyalty and integrity. On top of making the world a safer place, BA and the guys have never asked for a trade and will be A-Teamers for life. If that’s not a team I should follow, point me to one I should.
The best part of that game was watching T.O. pulling up when he saw Micheal Lewis’s shadow, watching Lito make a pick in his face, his talking shit on the sidelines, pouting on the bench being consoled by Vanderjact of all people. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha…

Dallas fans are pussies, i went down to Texas for the Birds-’Boys game in ‘04 and we took over the city and turned it into Deep-South Philly in the matter of a long weekend. The Eagles fans made all the noise in that shithole of a stadium that night. You know why we’re able to take over an opposing team’s stadium, we live fore the Eagles and do what ever we can to help them win. I would love to see and team’s fans attempt to make that much of a commotion at the Linc, they wouldn’t be able to, hell, those Redskin-fags who wear dresses are afraid to comeback.
Boys, let’s settle down. You can’t expect other people to agree when you tell them that their team sucks. But let’s face the facts. Philly fans are insane. But we like it that way. Get over it.
