Upon further review of the photo, it appears that a disembodied arm is flying that Confederate flag.

First off, contrary to common belief, that’s not an authentic “Confederate” flag, even without the design in the middle of the St. Andrew’s cross. Secondly, not everyone who flys a Confederate flag, or any other particular kind of flag, is a racist. Have a look at the very well-attended KKK parade and rally held in Washington, D.C., between the two world wars. That’s not any kind of Confederate flag each of those guys are carrying. That’s right, the preferred flag for the Klan at that time, throughout most of its history, was (drum roll) THE STARS AND STRIPES. The state with the largest Klan membership at the time of the rally was the well-known former Confederate state of INDIANA. Last but not least, not all illegal aliens are non-white. I can remember a BIG issue 50 years ago was whether or not “Mexicans,” whatever that means, were “white.” Typically, leaders of that genre, as in LULAC, G.I. Forum, etc. then asserted that they were, most definitely, white. So there.
