While this isn’t quite at the level of the minute-and-a-half Phillie Phanatic Mascot Monday, this is seriously effed up. Today’s Mascot Monday features a giant sun, freakin’ Santa Claus and the return of Jennaphr Frederick:
Some thoughts about today’s Mascot Monday after the jump.
Okay, here’s what we love about this week’s MM (can we abbreviate it now):
- The promotion for Fox 29’s heat wave coverage beforehand is fantastic. “We want to remind you to stay with Fox 29 all week for continuing coverage of our heat wave…. now here’s some of that coverage: dancing mascots!”
- Not only is Santa Claus dancing with them (in the middle of the summer), but he hands over a dancing Santa Claus doll as a present before the dancing begins.
- Jennaphr Frederick’s line: “I heard there was a hot intern last week, so I’m going to try to do what I can.” (Editor’s Note: You heard right.)
- Frederick having a conversation with the sun mascot: “Sunny, do you play this kind of music?” (The sun responds with some sort of hand gesture.)

I wake up around 5AM every morning since my first child was born, which coincided with the start of good day philadelphia . I no longer have newborns, but I still wake up around 5 every morning. The very first thing I do is put on GDP. I love everyone on the show like family, Well, besides the huge crush I have on Steve, Jenaphr is always trying to start with him, Cmon Jen, we know you want him,He’s hot, you can say it! Anyway, I love you guys every morning-STEVE KEELEY IS HOT! I’m watching forever–don’t change a thing!
