Barbaro The Best

Barbaro

KYW 1060 has a report today titled, “Why We Care So Much About Barbaro.” You know, I always just thought that we sent Barbaro cards, emails and letters because we’re effing morons, but apparently it’s a little more complicated than that.

Here’s what Dr. Eric Zilmer, a prof of sports psychology at Drexel, had to say about our fascination with the horse (emphasis mine):

“We collectively have embraced this horse as a hero, and we want to make sure that he survives. It is really a fairy tale, and we want fairy tales with happy endings.” ¶ Dr. Zillmer adds that if Barbaro recovers, we humans will ultimately feel better about who we are.

Hey, I was right! We’re just effing morons.
