Today’s Daily News cover story by Catherine Lucey notes the possible dilemma NBC 10 could be facing if Chaka Fattah decides to run for mayor. Fattah’s wife, Renee Chenault-Fattah, is an anchor for NBC 10.

Certainly a story, but we wonder why it got the front-page treatment. Anyway, here’s the dilemma in a nutshell:

But trouble could be brewing in professional paradise. If the six-term congressman decides to run for mayor next year, NBC10 will have to decide whether its credibility would take a hit if it kept Renee Chenault-Fattah as a nightly news anchors. ¶ It’s a dilemma born of a modern marriage. Either the station keeps Chenault-Fattah as an anchor, risking - fairly or unfairly - charges of bias, or it shifts her to a different job, effectively punishing a successful professional for her marriage.

Yes, it could risk the credibility of the NBC 10, the station that brought us its anchors and weathermen fighting like fifth-graders, a slideshow of teachers in student sex cases, the in-depth report on the vicious goose, dress-’em-up weatherpeople, talking Barbaro and (last but not least) Irresistible Ella.

Yeah. Having Chenault-Fattah anchor the 11 p.m. news would really ruin the station’s credibility.
