Philadelphia Will Do

Leftovers: We Learn Good

• A study says Philadelphia graduates 55.5 percent of its incoming freshman, on average. The national average is 70 percent. Pennsylvania, on the whole, was a more respectable 79.1 percent. But — surprise! — the state may inflate its numbers, according to Paul Vallas. Film at 11. [Inquirer]

• A story in the New York Observer says that flab is in for men. And what do you do with that?

• That’s right: Hide marijuana in your fat rolls. Where else would you store it? [AP/NBC 10]

• Uh oh: Philly is now only about 1700 people larger than Phoenix. It looks like we’re going to fall to sixth-largest city soon. Get ready for the hang-wringing about how the city is on the downswing now. [Inquirer]

The census gets a lot of its info from car info(licenses, vehicles) and new housing construction…which undercounts older cities with public transport. Every year cities like Chicago, NYC and Philly are undercounted, and at the beginning of every REAL census count(1990,2000,2010), they are properly counted and thus the estimates are wrong. Over and Over again. FWIW

“You don’t want a guy who’s too skinny,” said a young, sporty blonde named Adrienne Rochetti, who lives in the West Village and considers Vince Vaughn a hottie. “If a guy is skinnier than you, then you’re the one that has to go to the gym.”

I thought women were supposed to be rounder than men. Here we go:

According to an article from Medscape.com, the American Dietetic Association recommends that men have 15-18% body fat and women have 20-25% body fat. Healthy male athletes might be as low as 5-12% body fat, and healthy female athletes could be as low as 10-20%.

    LOL IM A GRRRL ROFL

In any event, hot chicks don’t date fat dudes. Ever. Unless they’re rich. Vince Vaughn? Jack Black? Rich.

I can’t wait for Sara Vilkomerson to write an article about how nerds get chicks because she once watched “Weird Science” (the television series, not the movie).
