Ah, The Glories Of Minor Eagles Triumps Of The Mid-1990sSince it’s a slow news day, I stumbled over to YouTube to check and see if there were any new puppy videos I should watch. But I ended up searching “Philadelphia Eagles,” and found something that might even be better: The Groundhog Day Game. This doesn’t have Merrill Reese’s call that led to the game’s name, but it does have John Madden and Pat Summerall back when they were a solid announcing team, and since there’s absolutely nothing going on right now, I figured I’d pass it along. Remember when the Cowboys had awful coaches like Barry Switzer and things like this would just happen? Remember when beating the Cowboys was a huge treat and it was the highlight of the season? It’s nice that the Eagles are now a solid team almost every year (besides the last one, of course), but sometimes I miss the good old days. Oh, yeah, and this video has a Mike Mamula sighting. Incredible. Oh, yeah, and this reminds me how much I miss the old Eagles logo. |

youtube rocks. That was a great game too. Its one of those ones where you remember where you were when that happened. At least I do.
The best parts of the video are 1)Ed Hochuli!!! and 2)the Eagles, at home, wearing white jerseys in order to force the ‘Boys into their hated blue tops. And Marty Morninwheg got crap for taking the wind…
Who ended up winning this game?
Oh, the Eagles ended up winning, 20-17. They made Gary Anderson kick his game-winning field goal twice, because one of the refs wasn’t ready the first time. That’s what led to it being called the “Groundhog Day” game.

Barry put the game in the players hands. Players have to execute and they did not do it. Barry does have National Championships and he has a Superbowl victory… doesn’t sound like a horrible coach to me.
The Eagles won the glorious Groundhog Day Game.

It’s so sad that the Eagles treat regular season accidental victories against the Cowboys like they are championships or something.
Good grief, ya’ll. You really need to win a Super Bowl, but as we all know that will never happen.
You know, I was going to go see that new Mark Wahlberg movie where he walks on to the (giggle) Eagles but I already know how it ends…. they don’t win the Super Bowl.
