Today’s Evening Bulletin contains the daily Herb Denenberg column, which contains this question to “The Advocate”:
Herb’s answer comes after he talks to the International Carwashing Association:
Answer: I asked the International Carwashing Association, a rather biased source, but the organization that would at least have an answer. It says it varies by state. In Pennsylvania it recommends once every seven to 10 days. In New Jersey, its recommendation is once a week. It notes that a well cared for car is worth about $1,500 extra on the market. I’d modify all that to say it depends on your car’s exposure and how it looks. I certainly don’t see the need to wash a car every seven to ten days under ordinary circumstances. The Carwashing Association does point out that if the car is exposed to salt, it should be washed within a few days.
Uhh, I have a better answer: “When it’s dirty!”
