Rick Santorm brings electioneering to new depths And the Internet? Well, if you give candidates the time, you get shit like this. WheresCasey.com is an official website of the Rick Santorum campaign, and it asks, well, “Just where is Bob Casey?” A fair question to be asked, sure: He’s dodged Democratic primary debates and hasn’t been in his state treasurer’s office as much as he probably should have. (The former is a smart decision by Casey, as the debates could probably only hurt him, but that doesn’t mean we all can’t hold it against him.) The Santorum campaign also says he’s been smearing ol’ Ricky himself — with santorum, no doubt — but, you know, who isn’t down with a little old fashioned mudslinging?
The problem with the website isn’t that, though: It’s that it’s a creepy flash movie with a western theme complete with a cowboy talking in a stereotypical “Wild West” accent. What. The. Fuck. Like, I do pretty lowbrow stuff, but I don’t get this effing stupid. And these are two people who are fighting to be in a legislative body that does things like make laws and declare war and approve Supreme Court justices. And Santorum is spreading Wild West cowboys to tell Bob Casey he’s not fit for the job. And people wonder why nobody votes. WheresCasey.com |

Sure, the Internet brings the power to the people and makes the democratic process a bit more democratic and lots of fundraisers can be done online. Okay. But, remember, television exposed more people to candidates, too (I guess), and now politics on TV is fake debates and endless attack ads that don’t say anything.

It could be like this.
Just like this.
Always.
