Introducing the Blog God®

101705alestreet.jpg In my travels throughout the city, I recently came across The Foodery, a take-out beer shop under the masquerade of a mini-deli but without an actual deli. (Disclosure: I’ve known about The Foodery for, like, forever now. And I live a half-block away — I never really get that much further from my apartment.)

During a recent trip in my pajamas to The Foodery, I grabbed a little publication called Ale Street News, which is quickly sneaking up on the Northeast Times as my favorite publication in the world.

I don’t really know what I like best about the paper: the lengthy tit-for-tat debate in the front between a reader and a writer or the long set of columns in the back, each by a different “beer character.”

Okay, the best of this is the column by the Beer Goddess®, which actually has the ® after every instance, except when they forgot to put it in. I’ll just show you the columnist’s photo and the opening paragraph:

Indeed.

I’m so excited at the idea of the Beer Goddess® that I’m christening myself the Blog God®, the surveyor of all things bloggedy. The duties of the Blog God® are to occassionally write Blog God® in a blog post, despite the fact that Blog God® is not a registered trademark in any nation I know of. The duties of the Blog Goddess® include going to the Foodery with me and drinking beer back at my apartment, and wearing a t-shirt that says “Blog Goddess®.” (Writing columns that have your chest in place of a normal headshot is optional.) Applications are currently being accepted.

The duties of the Blog Pope® have yet to be determined. To quote a favorite movie line of mine, “What’s up?”

    Dear Blog God,

Why have thou forsaken my blog?

    Sincerely,
    Mike

Has anybody claimed Blog Devil® yet? ‘Cause I could do that.
